“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” John 1:12
Today is a special day, because we will be able to discover how we become children of God. In reality, it is very simple to become children of God. To find out, we must examine the above verse. To be “children of God” you have to take TWO STEPS:
BELIEVE à “in his name”. What does the Bible mean by “believing in its name”? Believe in what its name means. Jesus in Hebrew, “Jeshua”, means “The Lord is salvation”. Believe that Jesus is the Savior. Believe in the work done by Christ. He suffered the punishment for sin, died on the cross, descended to the grave and triumphantly rose from the dead to be the Lord and Savior. Now, by virtue of Christ’s sacrifice, “YOU” and “I” can BELIEVE in His Name. You can, despite all your sins and with all your needs, turn NOW, by faith, to Christ. Today we can stop for a few moments to reflect on whether we “believe” in the way requested by the Lord Jesus or if our belief is superficial like that of most people. We have taken the first step to become children of God. Tomorrow we will see the second step. Good day!
